MUSICAL PERFORMANCE: International Uilleann Piping Day (IUPD) 2023

The uilleann ( ‘elbow’ in Irish) pipes or ‘Irish pipes’ are a sophisticated form of bagpipe with a history that can be traced back to the eighteenth century. In recognition of its cultural importance, uilleann piping was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017.
To celebrate International Uilleann Piping Day (IUPD) 2023, come along to Galway City Museum and join with piper Tommy Keane and friends.
