Celebrating Harps Together: Harpers Unite, Celebrate and Collaborate
Harps Together Lá na Cruite │Harp Day 2022 takes place on Saturday October 15th with live and online events planned all over the world. For the sixth year in a row, Irish harpers extend a warm invitation to harpers everywhere to join with them in celebrating the 1000-year-old Irish harping tradition.
Galway harpists and their students play a variety of harps, from the Early Irish harp strung with brass to the modern Irish harp. Performers include Áine Ní Shíoradáin (who will present a special section on the songs of Muigh Seola collected by Eibhlín Bean Uí Choisdealbha), Caitríona Cannon, Kathleen Loughnane, Natalie Surina and Maura Ó Cróinín. This is an informal performance and people are welcome to come and go between performances.
Keep an eye out also for harp performances in the Galway City Library and Opus II, High Street!
