TALK: Sea-Level Change & Línte na Farraige

March 25 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm UTC+0

Two people in front of stone wall structure with line of luminous light above head level.

Since 1842, when sea-level was first measured in Galway, sea levels have risen by 25-30cm, and in recent years the city has been greatly impacted by flooding associated with storms. Línte na Farraige (Lines of the Sea) is a project that highlights the issue of rising sea-levels due to climate change by creating light installations at Irish coastal locations and heritage site, including at the Spanish Arch in Galway, to communicate the risks of future sea level rises.  Join scientist Dr Zoë Roseby of Trinity College, Dublin, who was involved in the Línte na Farraige project, as she discusses Irish sea-level change with reference to Galway.

BOOKING essential as places are limited, email museum@galwaycity.ie or phone 091 532460 to secure your place. Admission is FREE!

Suitable for adults and young people aged 12+
