History in the Primary Classroom: Using museums and objects to enhance learning experiences

The talk aims to give teachers the knowledge and skills to engage with Object-Based Learning (OBL), a child-centred approach that uses cultural material to inspire close observation and critical thinking.  By sharing writing, art, drama and storytelling activities, the tutor aims to help teachers to bring the past to life for their pupils in a fun and engaging way, and in doing so improve the ability of pupils to shape their own views and perspectives on history, heritage, culture and art.  The tutor will also share details of local and regional museums.
