ILLUSTRATED TALK: The Aran Knit – History, Myth & Makers

September 16 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm UTC+0

In 2017, the Museum of Modern Art in New York selected a 1940s Aran sweater for an exhibition on the world’s most iconic fashion designs. Join textile historian Vawn Corrigan – author of Irish Aran: History, TraditionFashion – as she explores the unique place of the Aran knit within the larger picture of Irish making and identity. If you have a handknit Aran with a story, or another interesting vintage piece such as handmade lace or weaving, please bring it along for a show-and-tell at the end of the presentation.

Suitable for adults and young people aged 12+
