CORRIB BEO TALK: “Nature for the People” with Ray Ó Foghlú

Corrib Beo, in collaboration with Galway City Museum, are delighted to announce the details of the next talk in the 2026 Museum Talks Series.
We are delighted to welcome Ray Ó Foghlú – Head of Partnernships & Development for Hometree – to give a comprehensive talk titled: “Nature for the People”, Wednesday, 25th March @ 1:00 pm in the Education Room at Galway City Museum.

Overview:
Ray’s talk will focus on the journey of Hometree – growing in four years, from two farmers and an ecologist working out of a van, into an organisation employing 32 people, with departments such as finance, forestry, community and nursery. Our guest will speak about
Hometree’s work on native woodlands, and focus specifically on some of their Galway projects and sites. Recent engagement projects Hometree has undertaken around the west coast of Ireland will be discussed, including Dinnseanchas, and Community Conversations.
The talk will cover some of the critical constraints holding nature restoration back in Ireland, but also the opportunities – if we can get it right.
Speaker Bio:
Ray Ó Foghlú is a woodland conservationist. His background is in Environmental Science, where he specialised in Forests and Water Quality. He has worked for the last decade in the Irish eNGO sector, and he is currently the Head of Partnernships &
