Gun Money

James II gunmoney so-called as it is believed to have been produced from brass cannons. Gunmoney was essentially token coinage which could be redeemed if and when James II was successful in his struggle with William III during the Williamite War (1689-91). In the end, the Williamites emerged victorious and the coins were unredeemable.
