Silent Saturdays are sensory-friendly mornings at Galway City Museum, designed to offer a calmer and more comfortable visit for neurodivergent visitors, people with sensory differences, and anyone who would benefit from a quieter environment.
These sessions will take place on the last Saturday of every month from 10am to 12pm, starting on Saturday 28 March 2026. During this time, sound levels throughout the building are reduced or turned off where possible, large groups visits are discouraged, and the Education Room on Level 2 is available as a designated Quiet Space.
Please note that Silent Saturdays in July and August may be busier than usual due to seasonal visitor numbers.
Visitors may wish to view our Social Story in ENGLISH or as GAEILGE in advance of the visit.
Sensory Supports
The Museum has sensory support items that can help make the visitor feel more comfortable, such as ear defenders, stress balls and fidget toys. These items can be borrowed from Reception at the start of the visit.
Galway City Museum welcomes any feedback that may help further enhance the accessibility and comfort of the visitor experience.
