Galway City comes alive for Culture Night 2023 happening this Friday 22 September with over 50 FREE events across the city. It promises to be one night for all / oíche dar saol! This years programme includes Poetry as Commemoration at Galway City Museum. This initiative of the Irish Poetry Reading Archive at UCD Library in partnership with Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, under the Decade of Centenaries 2012-2023 programme and Galway City Council.
This event is FREE, but advance booking is advised as places are limited. Contact the museum by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (091) 532460 to save a space. Suitable for adults and young people aged 12+. Galway City Museum will remain open until 8pm for Culture Night. Galleries close at 7.45pm.
Throughout the city audiences can further look forward to street transformations, innovative theatre, candlelit concerts, visual arts and so much more. There will be opportunities to learn new skills including sign language, origami, boat building and harmonica and also to appreciate the richness of Galway’s growing international community including Spanish, African and nomadic cultures.
