TALK: City of the Tribes

Galway is known as the ‘City of the Tribes’ after fourteen merchant families that dominated the commercial and administrative life of the medieval town. Join local historian Adrian Martyn, author of The Tribes of Galway, 1124-1642, to learn about these influential ‘tribes’ and their many connections with Europe. This event is co-hosted with Galway Civic Trust as part of its Medieval Experience Day, under Galway 2020’s Small Towns-Big Ideas programme.
