Dominican silver chalice inscribed under the foot with ‘D : Georgius Martin et D : Elizabeth Bodkin me fieri fecerunt Galivae Anno Do : 1714’ and ‘Pertinet ad Monast Jesu et Mariae O.P. Galviae’. Deep bowl with an inscription ‘CALICEM SALVTARIS ACCIPIAM ET NOMEN DOMINI INVOCABO’. The chalice is believed to have been presented to the Dominican order, Galway by George Martin, of Cregans, Co. Clare and his wife, Elizabeth, daughter of John Bodkin.
